KOYCEGIZ LAKE

Lake Köyceğiz, located in the heart of Köyceğiz, the pearl of Muğla, stands out as one of the most impressive bodies of water in the region. The surface of the lake, reflected by the surrounding pine forests, is like a breathtaking painting. It's a destination offering hiking, photography, and short boat trips for visitors who want to be close to nature. The lake is connected to the Mediterranean Sea via the Dalyan Canal, making it one of the rare lakes in Türkiye connected to the sea by a natural canal. Thanks to this unique connection, a balance of freshwater and saltwater is maintained in the lake, resulting in a rich ecosystem. Birdwatchers, in particular, prefer this location to observe the different species living in the lake.

Located approximately 4 kilometers from the center of Köyceğiz, the lake can be reached in just 10 minutes by car. Visitors can picnic by the lake, stroll along the short walking trails, or take a boat tour enjoying the lake views. The colors that appear on the lake's surface during sunset offer a visual feast for those who love the scenery. Köyceğiz Lake is also centrally located for various routes around it. Popular spots such as Sultaniye Thermal Springs, the ancient city of Kaunos, Dalyan boat tours, and Ağla Plateau can be easily explored around the lake. For visitors seeking nature, history, and activities, this lake has become one of the indispensable stops in the region.
